Park Maksimir (oasis of peace)

Park Maksimir is one of the most beautiful parks in this part of Europe. It’s only a few minutes of walking distance from the apartment. Spread on the surface of 316 hectares are beautiful meadows, paths, streams and five lakes.

 

There are numerous of opportunities that park offers to its visitors, such as relaxing walks on beautiful pathways, Nordic walking, running and cycling. Plus, there are two modern playgrounds for younger visitors.

 

Maksimir is the first public park in south-eastern Europe, but also one of the first in the world. To Zagreb, park Maksimir is like Bois de Boulogne to Paris, Regents Park to London or Tiergarten to Berlin.

In the park, there’s also a zoo. It has over 270 animal species and over 2200 units from almost all continents. It was founded in 1925, making it the oldest zoo in south-eastern Europe.
